The Fruit

The Fruit is what is given.

Fruit is the visible expression of a life. It is the impact we have on other people, the work we create, the relationships we cultivate, the communities we help shape, and the gifts we bring into the world. It is what becomes visible when years of choices, experiences, values, and commitments take form in ways that can be seen and touched. Most people encounter fruit long before they encounter roots. They notice the outcome before they understand the process that produced it.

Because fruit is visible, it is easy to mistake it for the whole story. We are often taught to evaluate ourselves according to results alone: success or failure, recognition or obscurity, achievement or disappointment. Yet fruit never exists by itself. Every visible outcome emerges from a larger ecology. Beneath every accomplishment, every contribution, every relationship, and every legacy lies a history that helped bring it into being.

The Fruit is neither reward nor punishment. It is expression. Sometimes the fruit of a season is abundance and growth. Sometimes it is insight earned through difficulty. Sometimes it is a relationship that deepens over time, a work of creativity that finds its audience, a family that flourishes, or a simple act of kindness whose effects continue long after it has been forgotten. Whatever form it takes, fruit reveals something about the life from which it emerged.

When we begin with fruit, we begin with what can already be seen, trusting that deeper understanding will emerge as we continue the journey.
